Tibetans warn India against Chinese 'designs'
New Delhi, Nov 18: Protesting Chinese President Hu Jintao's forthcoming visit to India, Tibetans today cautioned the government against China's confidence-building measures, saying it was an attempt to deflect attention from the main issue.
Reminding the government of China's repressive measures and human rights abuse record against its own people and Tibetans, the Tibetan Youth Congress said it was Mr Hu, who carried out ''butchering'' of 1.2 million Tibetans and caused the destruction of their tradition, culture and religion.
Basic rights of Tibetans were being denied and they were being subjected to inhuman abuses in all walks of life, leading to the fleeing of several thousands of them, the Tibetan Youth Congress alleged.
The TYC also said any agreement between India and China would lack legitimacy if it was done at the cost of six million Tibetans.
