Three youth arrested in kidnap case

Hubli, Nov 18 (UNI) Police have arrested three youth in connection with the kidnapping of a 14-year-old boy and demanding a ransom of Rs two lakh from his parents.

Police said yesterday that Mohammad Shakheel went missing on October 31 last as he did not return from to school. A case was registered based on a complaint from the boy's father Bashasab Nadaf and investigation was on.

Nadaf received two telephone calls on Wednesday stating that the boy was with the caller and demanding a ransom of Rs two lakh for his safe release. the caller warned Nadaf against informing the police and threatened to kill him otherwise. Nadaf said he saw three motorcycle-borne youth keeping continuous watch on his house and reported the matter to the police, who swung into action and nabbed the trio. They were produced before a magistrate and were remanded to judicial custody, police said.
