Three killed, curfew imposed after police station set on fire
Guwahati, Nov 18 (UNI) An indefinite curfew was clamped after three persons were killed, two of them children, 24 injured and a police station set on fire in Asom's Morigaon district today.
Police fired several rounds after failing to control a violent mob, who attacked the Moirabari police station. The police station was set on fire by the mob when the two children felled to police firing.
Another person was also killed in the melee.
The mob set ablaze some police quarters located near the station.
More than twenty policemen were wounded when the mob attacked them with brickbats and stones and other missiles, police said.
The injured were taken to a nearby hospital.
The mob had gheraoed the police station to force policemen to free a motor cycle seized by the personnel.
Additional police forces from neighbouring Nowgong distrit rushed to the site.
Among the two children killed in the police firing, one was identified as Rakib (6). Two others were yet to be identified.
