Sugar prices rise on improved demand
Mumbai, Nov 18 (UNI) Sugar prices today rose on improved demand, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants' Association said.
Sugar in small grade declined by Rs 11 per quintal on thin buying support while medium grade went up by Rs five per quintal on reduced stock supply.
Sugar in ex-mill small grade rose by Rs five per quintal on better buying support while medium grade remained steady on moderate demand.
Following were the spot wholesale rates per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,727/1,771, Medium grade: Rs 1,762/1,830, Ex-mill: Small grade: Rs 1,710/1,730, Medium grade: Rs 1,740/1,780.
