Rs 3000 crore for road construction and repairing

Muzaffarpur, Nov 18 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today informed that that various schemes worth Rs 3000 crore to be launched this year for construction and repairing of roads.

Addressing a function here, Mr Kumar said the construction of roads worth Rs 700 crore had already been initiated while other schemes worth Rs 500 crore for construction of rural roads and culverts would be launched during the next two days.

" Local contractors are not taking interests in construction of roads, so agencies are being contacted to execute the construction work of roads and bridges'' he said adding no compromise would be made on the quality of work.

He announced that several welfare and developmental projects worth crores of rupees were being prepared for Muzaffarpur and said he would make an announcement in this connection soon.

Earlier Mr Kumar unveiled statues of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and ex-Bihar Minister Mahesh Prasad Singh.
