Bangalore, Nov 18: A record number of 1.91 lakh candidates will test their luck to make it to most prestigious of the business schools in the country, the six institutes of Indian Institute of Management (IIM), for which the Common Entrance Test (CAT) would be held across the country tomorrow.

The highest number of students attempting the test would be from Delhi from where nearly 30,000 have applied. This was followed by Chennai at 19,000.

IIM-Bangalore would conduct the test for 43,000 students in Bangalore, Pune and Hyderabad cities spread over 44 centres. Between 260 to 270 seats would be offered in the Bangalore. With a 30-minute extension the duration, the test would now be of three hours. This was done as authorities felt the candidates needed more time to tackle the exam format. It begins at 10 am and ends at one pm, a senior official of IIM-B told sources.

The number of applicants had crossed all previous best figures this year despite the IIMs making 50 per cent pass mark in Bachelor's degree as eligibility criteria. Last year 1.70 lakh students had written the test.
