Proper sanitation around IAF bases to check bird hits
Phagwara, Nov 18 (UNI) The center has instructed all state governments to make adequate sanitation arrangements in the Municipal Committees located near the Air Force Stations to prevent any air mishap due to birdhit, as garbage attracts the birds.
Informing this, Punjab Local Bodies Deputy Director Ms Sarojini Sharda told UNI here that the Centre had sanctioned a huge amount for the purpose.
She said Punjab government has so far released upto Rs three crore to the Nagar Councils of Adampur, Alawalpur and Sham Chaurasi for the purpose and comprehensive sanitation schemes have been launched in these municipal committees.
All 29 Municipal Committees of Jalandhar region have been instructed to complete the repair work of roads in their respective towns by November 30 positively as the required amount had been released by the state under Punjab Nirman Funds.
Commenting upon 'Solid Waste Management Scheme' and issuing of notices by Punjab Pollution Control Board to some Municipal Committees for not paying attention to proper waste disposal, Ms Sharda said all 29 corporations had been asked to arrange land for long term waste disposal and almost all had identified the lands for the purpose.
