Pilgrims and devotees should be allowed to enter Shiva temple

Kolkata, Nov 17 (UNI) Pilgrims and devotees should be allowed to offer prayers at the Lord Shiva temple at Tarakeswar, Calcutta High Court observed today.

A two-judge bench comprising Chief Justice V S Sarpurkar and Justice Nadira Patheraya held that sanctity of the same Hindu temple should be kept by the priests as well as those visiting to offer oblation at the temple.

The court took up the plea after a lawyer of Calcutta High Court complained before the bench that he was not allowed to enter the sanctum sanctorium of Lord Shiva temple and was harassed by the priests.

The court also observed that the devotees and the pilgrims should not be coerced by the priests and the pandas though allegations galore that many are harassed by them.
