Nomination papers of 17 candidates in order; one rejected

Mysore, Nov 18 (UNI) The nomination papers of a candidate were rejected, while that of 17 other candidates were found to be in order when scrutiny of nominations for the byelection to the Chamundeshwari Assembly constituency took place today.

The papers of 'Cyclist' Babu were rejected as he had failed to attach the A and B forms despite filing as the NCP candidate.

Meanwhile, JD(S) leader A S Guruswamy, who had filed his papers as the Janata Dal (U) candidate in the last moment following his party denying him a ticket, had produced the necessary documents as an official candidate.

The last date for withdrawal of nominations was November 20.

While the constituency would go to polls on December four, counting of votes would be taken up on December seven.

The candidates were Siddaramaiah (Congress), Shivabasappa (JD-S), A S Guruswamy (JD-U), B Karunakaran (Samajwadi Party) and 13 independents.
