Manipur gripped by power crisis
Imphal, Nov 18 (UNI) Manipur is facing acute power shortage after the Loktak hydro power project along with several others in the North Eastern region were closed down for repair.
The Yurembam power station officials here today said the state's total power consumption was about 57 mw to 110 mw.
One of the three tunnels at Loktak project was under repair, sources said.
Besides, Ranganadi project, Kaktalkuri and Rangapara supply units in other states were also undergoing repair works, sources added.
There is only one and half hour power supply in the morning and three hours in the evening.
Meanwhile, to meet the state's demand, the power department was trying to activate the Leimakhong heavy fuel project to produce about 36 mw of power, sources added.
