Man arrested for duping Haj pilgrim of Rs 10,000

Akola, Nov 18 (UNI) An imposter posing as passport officer was arrested here yesterday for allegedly duping a Haj pilgrim of Rs 10,000, said police today.

According to police, Gulam Shamsuddin Kazi Gulam Shamsuddin Sabir from Solashi area of the city allegedly posing as a passport officer duped Ahmed Shabir Ahmed Rafiq from Lohara village of Rs 10,000, promising him to arrange an air ticket for his Haj pilgrimage.

When Sabir failed to deliver the ticket on time, Rafiq lodged a police complaint against him which led to his arrest.

Sabir was later produced before a court and remanded to a two-day police custody.
