Low pressure trough persists

Chennai, Nov 18 (UNI) The trough of low pressure over South West Bay and adjoining West-Central Bay persisted, bringing widespread rains in several parts of Tamil Nadu and Chennai city today.

Under its influence, rain or thundershowers were likely at many places over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during the next 24 hrs.

The Weather office said heavy rainfall was likely over Coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during the same period.

Chennai would be generally cloudy with one or two spells of showers or thundershowers.

The weather has been playing hide and seek since today morning with some parts of the city receiving intermittent showers during the day.

Cuddalore and Villuppuram District received copious rains during the last 24 hrs resulting in increase in the inflow into the Veeranam lake, the level of which rose to 43.3 feet. The total capacity of the lake was 47.5 feet.
