LeT militant, jawan killed; six soldiers wounded in Doda

Jammu, Nov 18 (UNI) One Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militant was gunned down today while an army jawan sacrificed his life and six other soldiers were wounded during a counter insurgency operation in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.

On a tip-off that some LeT militants had taken shelter in the house of Rales Ahmed Nanoo at Gundna, a joint cordon and search operation (CASO) was carried out by 8 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Doda police, Senior Superintendent of Police (Doda) Manohar Singh told UNI.

One unidentified militant was killed during the encounter while one RR man died and six others received wounds, he said, adding that they operation was still on.

However, Nanoo, allegedly an over ground worker (OWG) who gave shelter and food to the militants, was arrested, he said.

Meanwhile, a hideout of militants, where they used to store ration, was unearthed at Katri Dhar in Gandoh tehsil of the district.

Recovery during the operation included, 10 quintal rice, eight quintal atta (flour), one quintal sugar, one tin of mustard oil, 25 packets (500 gms each) of vegetable oil (saturated), five kg desi ghee, 40 kg dry fruits, 80 litres of kerosene oil and a 40 meters polythene cover.
