Gujarat Govt's order on police to be challanged

Ahmedabad, Nov 18 (UNI) The order of Gujarat government banning the police personnel from joining the union, will soon be challenged in the Gujarat High Court.

Gujarat ASI and Head Constable Union's president Naresh Brahmbhatt told mediapersons here today that the order of Director General of Police (DGP) S M Sheikh prohibiting the police personnel from joining any union not recognised by the department would be challenged in the High Court.

Mr Brahmbhatt said at present, there are over 60,000 police personnel in Gujarat Police, of which over 6,000 have signed in favour of forming the union. An application for recognition of the union was sent to the DGP on July 13. However, the DGP has not responded to their application so far.

On December 2, Maha Sammelan of Gujarat Police personnel would be organised either in Ahmedabad or Gandhinagar to decide the future course of actions, Mr Brahmbhatt added.
