Cong to launch 'Jail Bharo' agitation from tomorrow
Lucknow, Nov 18 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Congress will launch ''Jail Bharo'' agitation from tomorrow to protest alleged corruption and deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
''The party will launch the agitation from Jhansi and will conclude in Lucknow on November 27,'' state Congress president Salman Khurshid said here.
Talking to newspersons, he said the party was launching the agitation from Bundelkhand to highlight the plight of farmers in the region.
''It is unfortunate the Mulayam Singh Yadav government is yet to send a report to the Centre seeking special package for Bundelkhand as demanded by the UP Congress,'' he added.
Mr Khurshid said as the centre cannot directly interfere in state matters, it was waiting for the state's reply on the situation of the farmers of Bundelkhand.
The ''Jail Bharo'' agitation was announced by AICC president Sonia Gandhi during her public meeting at Bareilly on September 20. She had said the party workers would go to jail against the ''Jeb Bharo'' policy of the Mulayam Singh Yadav regime by misusing public funds.
