Beedi workers organise rally in AP

Nizamabad, Andhra Pradesh, Nov 18 (UNI) To draw the attention of the state government to mitigate the problems faced by beedi workers, the Andhra Pradesh Beedi Workers Union, with the support of left wing labour organisations organised rally in the district today.

More than 30,000 beedi workers from various parts of the state participated in the rally, causing disruption to traffic on most of the routes.

The main demand of the beedi workers was to shorten the size of 'danger' logo on beedi packets and withdraw the recent Government Order which came into effect.

Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had already promised to take up the issue with the Centre in this regard while addressing a public meeting in Karimnagar on Novermber 12.
