Asnodkar to lead Goa Ranji team

Panaji, Nov 18 (UNI) Goa Cricket Association (GCA) today named Swapnil Asnodkar as captain for the Ranji Trophy tournament 2006-07 for the first two matches.

Senior selection committee Convenor Chetan Desai, who is also the secretary of the association, today announced 14-player team.

Swapnil Asnodkar (c), Sagun Kamat (vc), Anup Kolambkar, Mandar Phadke, Rohit Asnodkar, Rupesh Sarvankar, Damodar Redkar (wk), Robin D' Souza, Shadab Jakati, Anil Naik, Faizal Sheikh, Nikhil Haldipur, Sher Bahadur Yadav and Harshanand Gaonkar.

Another three names Kapil Angle, Ashish Patnekar and Shushrut Nasnodkar were added in the Ranji probables, a release said.

Shailesh Parulekar and Namdev Phadte will accompany the team as manager and coach respectively.

The first match will be be played at Guwahati from November 23 to 26 between Asom and Goa.
