Archery,Tennis included in 2010 Commonwealth Games
New Delhi, Nov 18 (UNI) Archery and Tennis have been included in the Commonwealth Games to be held here in 2010.
However the sports committee of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) did not approve the inclusion of Billiards and Snooker in the Games.
Archery Association of India (AAI) president Vijay Kumar Malhotra told UNI here that the sports committee and the excecutive board of the Commonwealth Games Federation has approved the inclusion of these two disciplines in the next edition of the Games.
Indian Olympic Association (IOA) had also asked for the inclusion of Billiards and Snooker in the games but this was not accepted.
Prof Malhotra, who is also the senior vice president of the IOA, said the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) overwhelmingly supported the inclusion of Archery and Tennis after ''we prersented our case very comprehensively.'' He said the Excecutive board of the CGF which met in Kuala Lumpur ratifed the sports committee's recommendation to include these two disciplines.
This will be the first time that Archery and Tennis will figure in the Games.
