AITUC calls country wide strike on Dec 14
Imphal, Nov 18 (UNI) The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) today called an all India strike on December 14 to demand labour reforms in the country.
Dr M Nara, MLA, and national vice-president of AITUC, speaking to the media here said, the AITUC and all its affiliated organisations will support the strike.
''The UPA government, led by Dr Manmohan Singh, has failed to fulfil the Common Minimum Programme (CMP). The all India strike may be cancelled if the government fulfils the demands of the labourers,'' he said.
The government was resorting to retrenchment which has caused serious problems in the country, he said. The AITUC and organisations of unorganised sectors will also take out a march to Parliament on November 23, he said.
There are about 37 crore people in the unorganised sectors, he said.
About 200 workers from Manipur will also leave for New Delhi tomorrow to attend the November 23 march to Parliament, he said.
