70-year-old charred to death

Barrackpore, Nov 18 (UNI) A man was charred to death in a fire that broke out in his apartment at Nona Chandanpukur near here today.

Police officials said Satyen Goswami (70) was 'residing fourth floor of private apartment at Nona-Chandanpukur under Titagarh police station in North 24 Parganas.

Soon after the local people reported the incident the Fire tenders rushed to the spot and recovered the charred body of the deceased, police said.

Though the exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, police suspect a short circuit in the electrical installations.

The body was sent for a post mortem, police said.
