61 NSUI activists arrested
Agartala, Nov 18 (UNI) Police today arrested 61 activists of NSUI, a student wing of the Congress, from state secetariat gate here when they tried to enter by violating orders while protesting leakage of question papers in Madhyamik test examination recently.
West Agartala Police Station sources said that activists of NSUI led by its leader Abhijit Deb organised a rally to give deputation to Education Director Hiralal Chakraborty to protest the leakage of question papers. They were demanding action against the responsible persons.
Police arrested 61 of them when they tried to enter into the Secretariat complex violating police order. Among the arrested was Congress MLA Sudip Roy Burman. All the arrested activists were, however, released later.
The NSUI had been protesting the alleged leakage of questions of life science examination in a number of schools.
Education Minister Keshab Majumder alleged that Tripura Teachers Association (TTA-Ajoy Group) was responsible for leaking of the question papers and it was part of a ''great conspiracy''.
The Government had postponed the examination in all 153 schools and it would take place later on.
