Youth held for damaging documents in Kanchi Seer case

Kancheepuram, Nov 17 (UNI) Police today arrested a youth, wanted in connection with alleged damaging of documents pertaining to the Sankararaman murder case, in which both the Kanchi Acharyas were cited as the accused.

The incident took place last year.

Police said, the youth, identified as Selvam (24), had entered the Judicial Magistrate (JM) Court-I room here in 2005 and damaged the box in which the documents pertaining to the case were kept.

The JM court was hearing the case when the incident took place, before it was shifted to a Pondicherry court.

He was picked up by the Vishnu Kanchi Inspector Panchatcharam.

During interrogation Selvam admitted to having committing the crime and said he searched for any valuables kept in the box.

He was also involved in various theft cases in the district.

District Superintendent of Police Amalraj congratulated the Inspector for cracking the year-long case.
