Two killed, 14 injured in bomb explosion in Lahore
Lahore, Nov 17 (UNI) At least two people were killed and 14 injured, two of them seriously at a bomb explosion at Lahore, the capital of Pakistan's Punjab province today.
Local police officials said the bomb, weighing approximately one kilogram, was hidden in a trash can near Qadafi cricket stadium on Ferozpur Road.
They said it was an improvised device, which went off with a big bang, triggering panic among the people.
No one has so far claimed repsonsibility for the blast, which took place despite strict security and a red alert, declared by federal and provincial governments a few days ago in the wake of confirmed intelligence reports that a group of atleast five terrorists may carry out terror strikes in different parts of the country.
Incidents of bomb blasts and suicide attacks increased in Pakistan since January 2002 after President Pervez Musharraf outlawed more than six extremist and militant outfits.
