Two arms smugglers arrested in Meghalaya

Shillong, Nov 17 (UNI) Two women arm smugglers were arrested in Meghalaya today after police recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from their possession.

The arrested were from Maraikaphon village under Sohra police station late last night.

Shillong Superintendent of Police H Kharkrang said two country- made pistols, one country-made revolver, six M-16 live ammunition, seven gelatine sticks, fusewires and nine detonators were seized from their residence.

Mr Kharkrang said both accused had been under police watch for quite sometime.

" Their arrest now would help us gather information on the supply of arms to militant outfits in the region, " Mr Kharkrang said adding interrogation against the duo had already begun.
