Teledata bags rural broadband connectivity deal worth Rs 300 cr

Indore, Nov 17 (UNI) Teledata Informatics has entered into an agreement with the Madhya Pradesh Government to provide rural wireless broadband connectivity along with Motorola.

According to the MoU, the villages would be connected to the district headquarters and the state capital through wireless broadband connectivity.

The contract is expected to fetch a revenue of Rs 60 crore per anum.

Under the contract, there is a proposal to set up a continuum of telecom infrastructure of IT applications and distribution systems for providing an effective solution to improve the general life in rural areas of the state, a company release said here today.

In order to achieve the target, Teledata Informatics proposes to invest Rs 150 crore. The infrastructure so established will be used for offering many other value added services to rural population thus helping bridge the digital divide.

In the first phase, Teledata Informatics will establish SPV (Specific Project Venture) in Madhya Pradesh and an operating hub in the state capital to undertake this project.

Teledata Informatics proposes to establish infrastructure to provide connectivity at selected points in Bhopal and about 200 points in rural areas. This phase will also include development of complete ecosystem of IT applications, services and logistics.

The expected time to make the first phase operational is six months from the date of signing the MoU.
