Team MRF optimistic to clinch Mai INRC 2006

Panaji, Nov 17 (UNI) Team MRF is confident to win Mai Indian National rally Championship (INRC) 2006, the fifth and final round, at Rally De Goa to be held on Novermber 18 and 19 in South Goa.

The Chandigardh based MRF driver Karandip Singh, who is leading the points tally with 34 points after the end of the four rounds at Pune, Bangalore, Chikmangalore and Chandigardh is also optimistic, MRF Gneral Manager Anthony Rodricks (advertising) while interacting with mediapersons said here today.

The competition looks to be close as J K driver Gaurav Gill is placed second with 31 points, only three points behind Karandip.

Followed by another three top drivers V R Naren Kumar (JK) 29, Mysore based MRF's Lohit V Urs also with 29 points and Sunny Siddhu (JK) with 26 points.

MRF Senior driver Karandip Singh was happy with his three points lead over his nearest rivals, J K teams's Gaurav Gill. He said three points lead is good enough to clinch the title.

Mr Rodricks said the lucky one will win the race as the points are very close to each other.

Team MRF's other drivers Arjun Balu (Coimbatore), Arjun Rao Aroor (Mangalore) Prithveen Rajan (Coimbatore) and Philippose Mathias (Delhi) will also be seen in action. Among the six MRF team drivers five will drive Car Baleno and Arjun Balu will drive Ford Fiesta.

The route selected for the rally covers Padi and Barcem, in Canacona, Neturlim in Sanguem and the green forest of Cotigao. ''The stages are the same since we started in 2000, they are fast tarmac'' Aroor said.
