Seven get lifer for killing youth

Surat, Nov 17 (UNI) A Fast Track Court has sentenced seven persons to life imprisonment for killing a youth who refused to pay a food bill in March last year.

Prosecution said Raju Vasava and his friends had gone to a biryani stall owned by Sadique Gulam Hussain in Katargam on March 4 last year and ordered chicken biryani. After their meal, they refused to pay the bill saying it did not contain chicken pieces.

This enraged the stall owner and he stabbed Vasava. The seriously injured Vasava was admitted to a local hospital where he gave a dying declaration to Kamrej police on the basis of which a case of murder and assault was registered against the accused, the prosecution added.

The court accepted the evidence submitted by the prosecution and yesterday sentenced all the seven accused to life imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 1,000 each on them.

The accused are Sadique Gulam Hussain, Jahir Gulam Hussain, Abdul Gulam Hussain, Gulam Mulla, Subair Gahur Rob, Rakesh Hasmukh Savaniya and Jagadish Chandra Mali.
