Second International emergency medicine conference inaugurated
New Delhi, Nov 17 (UNI) The second International Conference on Emergency Medicine and Disaster Preparedness was inaugurated today.
Over 300 international specialists have converged here for the three-day conference which seeks to find ways to improve administration of emergency medicine in India.
It also seeks to work with the Government to create a national disaster management plan and human resource pool comprising medicos, paramedics administrators and volunteers.
The Conference group is lobbying with the Government for recognition to Emergency Medicine as an area of post-graduate medical specialization and advocates repealing of archaic laws that have become obsolete and hamper disaster aid work.
Fortis Healthcare and Organising Secretary of the Conference Dr Asif Ali said,'' fatalities due to accident and disaster are quite high in India. We have a long way to go in ensuring that medical aid in emergency situation is provided within critical time.'' UNI NR RR RAI2043
