SC grants time to petitioner for transfer of Shukla case outside UP

New Delhi, Nov 17 (UNI) The Supreme Court today granted four weeks time to the petitioner seeking transfer of Madhumita Shukla murder case in which former UP Minister Amarmani Tripathi and his wife are the main accused, outside Uttar Pradesh.

The petitioner Nidhi Shukla, younger sister of the deceased is seeking transfer of the case outside UP on the grounds that free and fair trial in the case is not possible in UP in view of the political clout enjoyed by the accused who is an MLA and very close to the ruling party in the state.

A bench comprising Justices Ashok Bhan and Dalveer Bhandari adjourned the hearing for four weeks to enable the petitioner to respond to the reply filed by the respondent.

Amarmani Tripathi, a politician with criminal background is in UP jail.

Madhumita, a poetess was allegedly murdered at the behest of Amarmani Tripathi and his wife when she started pressing him to marry her after she became pregnant.
