Radio an important medium in changed scenario: AIR DG

Kolkata, Nov 17 (UNI) Radio has assumed greater importance in mass communication and public welfare in the changing global scenario, new Director General of All India Radio (News) P K Bandopadhyay said today.

He was addressing a meeting of the Indian Information Officers posted here.

The recently launched public information campaigns, Dr Bandopadhyay said, had proved the utility of the official media units in India.

The joint field work by various field agencies had also brought the media units into direct interaction with the people living in the remote regions, he said.

He urged his IIS colleagues to only work for the sole purpose of the betterment of masses.

The News Wing officers of AIR, DD and PIB and other IIS members from DAVP and DFP felicitated Dr Bandopadhyay.

The meeting marked Dr. Bandopadhyay's designation to the top slot in the AIR Newsroom from his existing responsibility as DDG, PIB Kolkata.
