Punjab CM envisions Mohali as world's economic centre
Mohali, Nov 17 (UNI) Mohali would soon emerge as the fastest growing economic centre in the world, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today said.
Addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone of Sri Guru Ravi Dass Research Bhawan here, Capt Singh said that several big industrial houses like DELL and construction companies had already established in the Mohali industrial area, as the city has been granted a full-fledged district state during the present Congress regime.
He called upon the people to follow the path shown by our great spiritual leaders and Gurus. This upcoming research centre to propagate the teachings of Guru Ravi Dass Ji, first of its own kind in the world, would provide a platform for eminent scholars to undertake research work related to the life and works of great spiritual ambassadors, he said.
Refering to the initiatives taken by the state government for the welfare of SCs/BCs, Capt Singh said that the government had provided 200 units free domestic electricity per month to the scheduled cast families, free drinking water and sewerage facilities and Rs 15,000 to every SC/BC girl on her marriage under Ashirwad Scheme along with free school education to the girls for upliftment of the downtrodden section of the society as per commitments made in the election manifesto-2002.
Capt Singh said the government had already released grant of Rs one crore for the construction of this research centre and in future also government would provide adequate funds to ensure the timely construction of the centre.
Speaking on the occasion, the local government minister Mr Jagjit Singh thanked Capt Singh for releasing adequate grant for the construction of Sri Guru Ravi Dass Research Bhawan. He said the total cost of this project would be Rs five crore and PUDA had already allotted one acre land for the project.
