Police undertakes not to divulge Muringoor probe details to media
Kochi, Nov 17 (UNI) The Kerala police today undertook in the high court not to divulge details of its investigations into the Muringoor Divine Retreat Centre, Thrissur, to the media.
Director General of Prosecution P G Thamby made the undertaking after the Director of the Muringoor Centre contended that the police were making ''unnecessary disclosures'' to the media about the investigation.
Justice R Basant, while noting the DGP's undertaking, allowed the police to carry out its investigation and posted the case for further hearing to November 28.
Another petition, filed by I V Kunjumol, seeking a CBI probe into the death of her husband Kannan at the centre on June 15 this year, was also posted for the same day.
Kannan had been admitted to the centre on June 11 for treatment for alcoholism. He allegedly jumped into a cauldron of boiling water on the night of June 15 and died.
The police is investigating the activities of the Catholic Church-run Muringoor Centre following directions from the Kerala high court.
