PNB, SAI, Army teams sail into Nehru super league

New Delhi, Nov 17 (UNI) Punjab National Bank sunk Indian Navy 3-1, SAI grounded Air India 3-2 and Army XI derailed Western Railway 1-0 to book their super league berths in the 43rd Nehru Hockey here today.

After SB Gorde fetched the lead for Indian Navy in the 11th minute and went into the breather with a 1-0 lead, PNB struck three goals through Jatinder Kumar, Navdeep Singh and Daman Deep Singh to come from behind to walk away with a 3-1 win.

SAI XI also sprang into action after Air India's Gaurav Tokhi sounded the board in the 12th minute and the steelmen struck through Vivek and Yudhvir Singh to lead 2-1 at half time.

Bruno Lugun equalised for Air India in the 36th minute but Hardev Singh's 41st minute strike sealed the match in the SAI team's favour.

In the final match of the day, Sunil Kumar's field goal in the 26th minute made all the difference as Army XI beat Western Railway by the solitary goal.
