PM's assurance on Indo-US nuclear deal must be protected : Rajnath
New Delhi, Nov 17 (UNI) Taking note of the passage of the Indo-US nuclear deal with certain amendments by the US Senate, BJP president Rajnath Singh today said the people now expect the government to safeguard Prime Minister Manmoham Singh's assurances in Parliament.
Mr Singh in a statement said that considering the fact that India does not have a conducive security scenario in the region, it must have the sovereign right over its nuclear deterrent capability and the right to revise its own national security interest.
Asserting that India specific safeguard should be the corner stone of this deal, the BJP president said nuclear autonomy should not come under the umbrella of another country. "This is a matter of prime concern for the BJP and must be clarified to the country before moving further ahead of Indo-US nuclear deal, ''he said.
