Panchayat sarkar to be strengthened in Bihar-Nitish
Patna, Nov 17 (UNI) The Bihar government today announced to set up financially powerfull 'panchayat sarkar'(panchayat government) and appealed to the representatives to discharge their duties carefully.
Addressing the inaugural session of the three day training cum orientation programme organised to make the newly elected panchayat representatives aware about their rights and duties, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said they had immense responsibilities in the changed scenario of the decentralised format.
He assured them of providing financial help as well as infrastructure for attaining their target.
He said to make the schemes more rational, effective and viable it would now be prepared and executed by the district planning committee being constituted with the members of panchayat raj institutions. He asked the representatives to get acquainted with their rights and duties and the provisions of the panchayat act as they will have to perform the actual work.
Of the total 371 mukhiyas and 4448 panchayat members in Patna district, 150 mukhiyas and 2250 panchayat members from Barh, Patna city and Masaurhi attended the programme. The rest would be trained on November 19.
The decentralised training programme was kicked off during the day in all districts. In view of several constraints the training programme was found to be more fruitful if organised at the district level, he said.
