Nanavati Comm inspects charred coach in Godhra

Godhra, Nov 17: The two members of the Godhra Inquiry Commission--Justice G T Nanavati and Justice K G Shah--today inspected the charred coach (S6) of the Sabarmati Express that has been kept in a protected area at Signal Falia near the station here.

The Commission's visit to the site was part of the probe it is conducting into the Sabarmati Express carnage incident of February 27, 2002 and the riots that broke in Gujarat in its aftermath.

The judges were accompanied by the Investigating Officer (IO) Noel Parmar, Panchmahals SP J K Bhatt and SDM M S Bindor, among others.

They discussed with the officers how and from where the fire could have originated and analysed the map of the coach. The IO briefed them about the police findings, sources said.

The term of the Commission is ending on December 6.
