Modi moots new strategies for development at 'Chintan Shibir'

Ahmedabad, Nov 17 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today called for new strategies for economic development to bring in qualitative change in people's lives.

He was speaking on the inaugural day of the fourth annual three-day 'Chintan Shibir' (conclave) at GNFC Bharuch, according to an oficial release here.

Ministers, secretaries, heads of department and senior officials of the district administration are participating in the meet.

Mr Modi also announced holding of a special conclave in Gandhinagar during the first Saturday and Sunday after the budget is presented. And beginning of March next a detailed review of the works done by all the departments during the year will be made, the release said.

Another conclave will be held in July 2007, wherein review of the first four months of the new budget and of planning up to October 2007 will be made, Mr Modi said.

Calling for active contribution of the officials to ensure new benchmark of development to prepare a blueprint of state's budget, he suggested priority to the works be given on the basis of budgetary provision.

He hoped that the conclave would provide energy to work for the welfare of common people and for the development of Gujarat.

Mr Modi said Chief Secretary Sudhir Mankad had reviewed the agenda of the 'shibir' and recommendations of the six groups of previous conclaves.

Meanwhile, at the 'shibir', yoga sessions will be held for the officials by five yoga experts from Vivekanand Trust in Bangalore.
