Minister urges women to work towards development

Kamareddy, Andhra Pradesh, Nov 17 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Information and Public Relations Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir today called upon the women folk to take part in the development programmes and contribute towards development of the state.

While speaking in the 'women empowerment and rural development day of the 'Bharat Nirman' public information campagin here today, Mr Shabbir said both the Centre and State Governments had introduced several schemes for the welfare of women.

He said a meager Rs 85 lakh was extended as loan to women in 2000 but in 2006, it touched Rs 100 crore in the district.

Listing out various developmental schemes, he said a 15-point programme was introduced for minorities welfare.
