MAIT wants technology upgradation fund

Kolkata, Nov 17: Manufacturers Association for Information Technology (MAIT) has asked for a technology upgradation fund for IT hardware firms in its budget wishlist to the Finance Ministry.

"We want the technology upgradation fund in line with the similar funds for technology upgradation in the textile sector," MAIT executive director Vinnie Mehta told reporters here today.

He was speaking at the inauguration of COMPASS, the computer hardware show.

MAIT has also asked for a stable fiscal policy for the IT hardware sector.

The Association has asked for similar treatment of consumer electronics and IT hardware sector.

This would enable fiscal benefits for the hardware sector, he said.
