Kulkarni to represent India in Commonwealth Chess Championship

Panaji, Nov 17 (UNI) Asian U-14 girls gold medalist, and women FIDE Master Bhakti Kulkarni of Goa will represent India in the Commonwealth Chess Championship to be held in Mumbai from November 19 to 29.

The All India Chess Federation Vice-President Mr Sameer Salgaocar, who is also the State Chess Association President said besides aiming for gold medal in the U-14 section, Goa'a rising star Bhakti will have the opporunity to get a maiden Women international master norm. Her coach Dronacharya Awardee Raghunandan Gokhale is also optimistic about her chances.

Mr Salgaocar said International grand master Nigel Short from England had been top seeded and about 15 grand masters will be seen in action among the 160 participants in the championship.
