Karzai leaves for Delhi
Shimla, Nov 17 (UNI) Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai today left for New Delhi in an Indian Air Force Helicopter after a two-day private visit to the state capital, official sources said.
He left for Delhi from Jubbarhatti airport to part to take part in the second Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan.
The sources said he was also scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his stay in the national capital.
President Karzai had attended the university here in the early 1980s for his postgraduate degree in political science after completing his graduation from a local college.
During his stay here, he addressed the HP University community and spent considerable time with an old friend, Shyam Khanna and former University professor A R Khan.
The Afghanistan President presented Prof Khan a box made of Lapis Lazuli, the sources added.
