It is up to Rahul whether to join govt or not: Sonia

New Delhi, Nov 17: Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi today kept the guessing game on regarding Rahul Gandhi's inclusion in the AICC or the government, saying ''it is up to him (Rahul) to decide.''

''I am always too happy to include him in the party or the government. It is upto him to decide,'' Ms Gandhi said in reply to a question after her inaugural address at the Fourth Annual Hindustan Times Leadership Summit on 'India : the Next Global Superpower.' She was asked whether she would include Rahul in the AICC or the government.

Rahul was also present in the audience.

To a question on the recent Uttar Pradesh elections in which the Congress got a battering, Ms Gandhi said the past experience in the UP elections had not been a ''very happy one.'' ''There is the usual pressure on us from the government and the administration. But we will fight that.'' She, however, said in the last local elections, Congress had not done badly at all. ''We have picked up. It is a sign we might give some surprises.''
