Gulf Air registers 71 per cent increase

Bangalore, Nov 17 (UNI) Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain and Oman, has registered 71 per cent growth on year on year basis during the first 10 month of the fiscal year, Gulf Air (India) General Manager Rajeev Nambiar said today.

He said that Bangalore, fourth biggest offices of Gulf Air among 25 officies in India, has accounted for 50 per cent of the revenues during the first 10 month. The load factor from flights operating out of the City was 70 per cent at 27,000 passengers during the same period as against 18,000 last year.

"The growth we have achieved this year was the result of advanced aviation technology and traditional Arabian hospitality", he added.

Mr Nambiar was speaking after kicking off Gulf Air's annual 'Gulf Air India Agents Awards' for its top passenger and cargo agents of Bangalore.

The awards would also be given away in Mumbai, Tiruvanandapuram, New Delhi and Chennai in the coming weeks.

The winners announced today, among passenger agents, included Air Skylanes Travels (Gold), Wipro Travel Services (Silver). Five others received bronze awards. In cargo, Dart Express bagged Gold, UT Worldwide the Silver and five others Bronze.

Mr Nambiar said that the awards were instituted in 1971 when the Gulf Air began its operations. The airline's network has stretched across the world covering 44 cities in 30 countries. It operates 60 flights from seven destinations in India, Mr Nambiar added.
