Govt to allocate more funds for devpt of Telangana:CM

Hyderabad, Nov 17 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the government would allocate huge funds for the development of Telangana, which would overtake coastal Andhra in next four years.

In a statement here, Dr Reddy, responding to a memorandum submitted by the CPI leaders seeking special package for Telangana, said Telangana had been given a lion's share in all allocations with regard to free power, infrastructure, empowerment of farmers, youth and women and scholarships for backward students.

Quoting latest socio-economic indicators published by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics three districts of Telangana achieved a remarkable pace of economic development on equal footing with that of Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema, he said.

The government had also given special attention for the upliftment of the weavers living in Telangana.

''We are making sincere and honest efforts to promote Telangana by allocating more than 50 per cent of funds in every project,'' Dr Reddy added.
