Govt should ask China to recall ambassador: JD(U)

New Delhi, Nov 17 (UNI) The Janata Dal (United) today criticised the UPA government for ''timid, weak and highly disturbing'' reaction on the Chinese Ambassador's statement claiming Arunachal Pradesh as Chinese territory and demanded it to ask the neighbouring country to recall him.

JD(U) President Sharad Yadav said in a statement here today that his party was ''extremely concerned ''that the ministry of External Affairs has failed to seek explanation from the Chinese Ambassador, not to talk of reprimanding him.'' Pointing out that the Ambassador has vitiated the atmosphere just on the eve of the visit of Chinese President to India, Mr Yadav said, ''He is clearly trying to browbeat India.'' ''We demand that the government of India should ask the government of the People's Republic of China to immediately recall their Ambassador. The government should also make it clear to the President of China during his visit, that any claim on India territory will adversely affect relations between the two countries.'' He said that the Janata Dal (U) stands for cooperation and friendly relations with all neighbours, including China. But cooperation does not mean capitulating and surrender. The people of India will not tolerate parting of even single inch of our territory to any one including China, he asserted.
