Goa, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka gain first inning lead
Margao, Nov 17(UNI) A scintillating knock of 121 (not out) by all-rounder Reagan Pinto and his two parterships, of 50 runs for the seventh wicket with Rohit Naik (19), and 63 runs for the ninth wicket with Rudresh Asgaokar (6), enabled hosts Goa score 209 for nine in 103.4 overs and gain vital 11 runs first innings lead against Kerala on the penultimate day of the three-day South Zone under-15 Polly Umrigar trophy cricket championship match being played here at MCC Ground today.
Goa, resuming at the overnight score of 20 for one in reply to Kerala's 198 all out, today managed to score 209 for nine at the close the play with a fine knock of 121 by Reagan Pinto which included 15 hits to the fence and came off 287 balls and 310 minutes. Leg spinner Ashwin Sharma (three for 62) and off-spinner Abhim Babu (3 for 46), were the most successful bowlers for Kerala.
At Arlem ground, in the second match, fine bowling spell by off-spinner Mehaboob Basha (three for 56), Shiv Kota (three for 27), guided Andhra Pradesh to skittle out Hyderabad for 131 all out in 72.1 overs in reply to Andhra Pradesh's 186 all out and gain 55 runs first innings lead.
Hyderabad, resuming at the overnight score of two for no loss, failed to negotiate the attack from Andhra Pradesh bowlers and their wickets fell at regular intervals with a total score of 131 all out in 72.1 overs.
Andhra Pradesh, in their second inning scored 81 for two in 29 overs at the close of the play on the strength of Prem Sagar 59.
Ahmed Basha not out 21 and G Chirinjivi not out (o) were at the crease. Andhra Pradesh gained an overall lead of 136 runs.
In the third match of the day at Shiroda in South Goa, Karnataka leg spinner Bharat Kondaji (four for 55) and Arjun Bhadari (two for 19) bolwed with lot of fire to bundled out Tamil Nadu for 168 in reply to Karnataka 203 and gained 35 runs first inning lead over Tamil Nadu.
Tamil Nadu, resuming at the overnight score of five for no loss, were all out for 168 in 73.1 over with the contribution from Ashish Kumar 37, R Vivek 25, Arvind Babu 19, Sarvan Kumar 15, Ashvek Srinivas 15.
Karnataka, in their second innings were 78 for four in 39 overs at the close of the play and gained overall lead of 113 runs.
