'Entrepreneurship complements systems, processes'

Bangalore, Nov 17 (UNI) Thought leaders from the academia and industry, spanning services and manufacturing, today reiterated that entrepreneurship and systems and processes in organisations go hand-in-hand, complementing each other for sustainable growth with quality as the hallmark.

In his keynote address on the second day of the CII's 14th Quality Summit here, Satyam Computers Chairman Ramalinga Raju stressed on the role of leadership in translating the company's vision and instilling the spirit of enterprise in every employee to serve customers, investors and other stakeholders.

''Entrepreneurship and systems or processes are not mutually exclusive. With market forces dominating the nature of business, companies have to keep in view the risk factors associated with change. Ability to scale quickly and compete in a global scenario calls for innovation and best management practices,'' he said.

Referring to the problems and challenges faced by his global IT firm, Mr Raju said that in the knowledge industry, human capital and development of soft assets were critical to sustain growth.

Combination of risk and change have brought entrepreneurship to the fore, forcing leadership to automate systems and processes using technology and best practices, he noted.

Prof Shoji Shiba, former professor, Sloan School of Management, an individual Deming Prize winner, explained how companies could achieve sustainability and competitiveness by innovating new solutions that created customer value and profits.

IIIT-B Director Prof Sadagopan said entrepreneurship and systems/processes not only co-exist, but also enable companies achieve scalability to compete in a global market. As two sides of the same coin, they enable companies to innovate and grow business. MORE UNI RS GD TS1949
