EC appoints observers for Roing bypoll

Itanagar, Nov 17 (UNI) The Election Commission today appointed two observers for the Roing assembly bypolls, under Arunachal Pradesh's Dibang Valley district, on December 4.

Official sources here said Gyandendra Dev Tripathi has been appointed as general observer and Ajay Ganesh Ubale as expenditure observer.

The election to this constituency was necessitated following resignation of sitting MLA Mukut Mithi after he was appointed as Lt Governor of Puducherry (Pondicherry).

While the ruling Congress and Opposition BJP would field their candidates for the seat, the lone regional Arunachal Congress had would not be contesting to maintain the spirit of party's alliance with the Congress.

A few Independent candidates are also likely to file nominations for the bypoll, sources said.
