Dole to unemployed youth, poor girls not for votes: Mulayam

Allahabad, Nov 17 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today refuted the charge of the Opposition parties that he was distributing unemployment allowance and Kanya Vidya Dhan (KVD) for the sake of vote-bank politics.

''The money being given thus belongs neither to the Congress, BJP nor any other party, but to the people,'' Mr Yadav observed.

He asserted that Opposition parties neither have any programme nor people's support. ''In frustration, they are targetting the Samajwadi Party.'' The CM maintained the only aim of the Opposition parties was to dislodge the SP from power. ''However, I am not worried over the crusade of the Opposition parties, since the people are with me.'' Mr Yadav said even after 58 years of the country's independence, a large number of people including women were illiterate, poor and unemployed.

He alleged neither the Congress nor BJP, the two major political parties of the country, were going to form the government at the Centre alone.

''These two parties only make tall promises, which they never fulfill. People have now lost faith in these outfits.'' The SP supremo said whenever SP came to power in UP, the issue of Ram temple was raised.

Mr Yadav said Opposition parties were making allegations that he was opportunitic, anti-farmer and anti-labourer.

He maintained the objective of distributing KVD was to ensure the poor could continue further studies, and instead of depending on others, lead an honourable life in society.
