DMRC to submit DPR on Chennai metro in Feb: Ellamvazhuthi

New Delhi, Nov 17 (UNI) The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will submit its detailed project report (DPR) on the Chennai metro by February 2007, Tamil Nadu Information Minister Parithi Ellamvazhuthi said today.

Talking to reporters after a meeting with DMRC MD E Sridharan, the Minister said the metro chief would visit Chennai next week and meet Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and top officials.

The proposed Chennai metro, which would operate on three routes, would cover the length and breadth of the state capital, said the Minister who also travelled by the Delhi metro.

Later in the day, Mr Ellamvazhuthi attended a function at the Tamil Nadu pavillion at the ongoing India International Trade Fair (IITF) at Pragati Maidan. The function was held as part of Tamil Nadu celebrations.

At the trade fair, as many as 14 departments of the Tamil Nadu were taking part, he said.
